I only painted the wood roughly (in other words I did not sand it down, prime it and then paint two coats - dearie me no, that would take far too long!). Just enough painting to cover the wood was needed and then I cut up some scraps of 1970s wallpaper and used a glue stick to keep them in place.
We love these little Japanese (?) crochet figures, they were all in an old dolls house that I bought a few years ago.
The littlest scraps of anything can go a very long way - these bits of wallpaper have been used on all sorts of things
If you team it up with a nice patchwork quilt it looks even better!
PS I will be really very sad if this appears on Pinterest.....too late it already has.....I can only assume some never read the writing and only look at the pictures....what a shame.....could someone from Pinterest tell me what that is all about please?
Hi sweet Jenny, I love what you did with this old printer's tray. It is always amazing what white paint can do! I love the bright cheerful fabric and the Japanese figures are darling! I have never seen any like that before... tatty bye! I do hope your lovely photos stay right here! Love, Paula xoxo
ReplyDeleteHello Paula - Thank you for your kind words - I hope that it is sunny today in Louisiana
DeleteLove the patchwork quilt too! xo
ReplyDeletehello lovely lady, this looks so fabulous - 70s wallpaper remnants are top of my wishlist at the mo, they make anything look gorgeous. I've got 2 printers trays, one is lovely and patinated and I can't quite bring myself to mess with its character, but the other I found in the street! It is very tatty and is lurking in the shed waiting for me to clean it up, I now feel inspired to do just that. So sorry to hear people ignore your polite request not to pin, I won't be pinning anything of yours, not cause I don't love your work but because it's yours and your wishes should be respected, so boo to them! x
ReplyDeleteHello Jenny, the picture pirates are at it again then! Have you thought about adding some text on your pics, e.g. Property of The Custards. If you can't stop them, at least get some recognition out of the poaching. Mary x
ReplyDeleteYou know some people read your blog through a reader, such as Google Reader, right? When people access your RSS updates that way, rather than coming to your blog to read, they do not see anything you have posted outside that update. They don't see your backgrounds or your layout, and they don't see any of the messages, warnings, requests, etc that you may have in your sidebar. I really don't think there is anything more sinister than that going on. A blog reader is a great way to quickly access a wide variety of content from across the web.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks - the reason why I had written in the text (the request not to post elsewhere) was because I realise not everyone would read side bars (not that I have any in the format I see). I agree that I don't think that it is sinister but for me it is just poor manners - whether or not any request had been read or otherwise I would always leave a comment or ask first. I certainly do not mind ideas being copied - that is why I post them here - it is just that these are my photos that I spend a long time doing and in a blink of an eye they appear elsewhere. I didn't post them here to be posted elsewhere - that's all really. I have had cross emails from people asking me to justify my request about my own photos. I think that it is great that people can read blogs in a variety of formats
DeleteHello;
