Cottage Garden purse.... feeling the lack of sunlight....and loin girding

Hijacking my own blog to have a mini moanette (I hope to keep a real perspective on life so not a full blown moan) regarding shorter days and early morning darkness...and the clocks haven't changed yet!

Got lots to do and finding it increasingly hard to gird my loins!!! Having had peep into other blogs I have found that others have dipped in their blogging activities possibly due to S.A L.D = Seasonally Altered Loin Disorder.

I will try and do a bit more girding and apologies for lack of umph
Decided that I would make some (well..one... given my current loin girding issue) purses with stiffer lining - a bit tricky but a more robust final result I think.  I am going to venture into making a few clutch bags...possibly....

I am very fussy about my bottom ('Madam - please refrain from sitting on the bacon slicer as we are getting a little behind with our orders'.......one of my dads old jokes....).  Can you see that with this one it is a teeny, tiny bit 'out' in its alignment....grrrrr

Never mind I will try and get it right next time...Oh you wanted to see more of that quilt did you?

Threadbare and worn within an inch of its long life - but oh so soft and lovely

As I like to cater for all tastes here is another purse that I made a while ago - something more modurhn dahlink!

Oh - not that modurhn at all...in fact maybe a little older!

This purse went to live in America  ;)

May your bottom always be perfectly aligned and your loins always girded....
PS Still no claimant for the grand purse giveaway prize- is there a protocol for this and what I now do with it?

PPS: Just noticed that it is very sunny in all the photographs - oh the irony!!!

As for the giveaway thingie - if you've emailed and had no contact I'm not sure whatelse you can do. Has the person blogged recently? Can you leave a comment there? No idea what the protocol is though - guess its up to you :)

    1. Oh Pam - I am late with Christmas cakes - my mum always made them in October and my lack of loin girding has delayed everything. Good for you - I hope you gave a wish when you stirred the mix!

    1. Hello Ada
We are night owls and early birds = long days! The light is my usual trigger to get out of bed but when it is dark in the morning....
      Sunny inside though!

  10. Obviously you were a hibinating bear in your previous life, that explains the bleeehs as we call it. Love the dad joke.:-) your purses are divine darlink, we all have a wobbly bottom so your purses should be just fine out there in the wide world. It's only this Hollywood purses that have had extra machining that are aligned....and they do Photoshop you know!

  12. The WORST thing about winter is the lack of light - I HATE the short days and get very grumpy about it, and that there's even less time in the day to do stuff than in summer - when days could, ideally, be longer too.

It's no use telling me to just get up earlier because my body only wakes up when there is a certain amount of light and that. in winter, is about 8am - no amount of alarm clocks and coffee and general prodding gets me going before then..and of course I shut down again at 3.30pm - so really, there simply is no way to actually achieve anything in the winter months. Might as well crawl into a cave and hibernate until Spring - them thar bears have the right idea.

Right - that's my mini moanette done with then. ;)

Velly velly nice purses...bottoms all looking quite spiffy and almost perfectly aligned to me. (It's tricky, isn't it, lining those seams up exactly. Requires the sort of precision that bores me to tears. Yours look good.)

    1. Dear wendz - is it extra tricky for you coming from much, much sunnier climes? I with you on the 3.30 shut down - by 4.00 I am yawning and it just feels like bedtime!
Thank you for kindness regarding purses - it is that last little bit of matching that really, really irritates when I look at them! Worse things....
      Have a sunny day

  13. Just catching up with your lovely blog. Love the fabric you've used on the purse it looks like a cottage garden and will make somebody very happy. I noticed a little lawn mower in a previous post I have one just like that but without the front box and I love the pic of the old fire with the dollies washing strewn across it you have a way of capturing things that paint a lovely picture. 14. I'm with you Jenny in hating the darker days. Added to that I have the mid-week blues (at work, hubby away, tetchy teenager, WRC work piling up, etc, etc). Nevermind eh? Worse things happen at sea as they say. (Sorry I wasn't meaning to moan.) Your purse is lovely and I don't think the Purse Police would arrest you for your slight misalignment. Is the quilt antique or just well-washed? Please share a bit of it's history with us. Philippa xx

    1. Thank you dear Philippa. I am happy to report that no Purse Police have visited this week! The quilt is an old one - dates from 1930s - 1940s I would say judging by the fabric (there are patches of wear and if you peep inside you can see how bright and colourful the fabrics were originally - some nice novelty fabrics in there! I bought it from a charity shop about 2-3 years ago and it cost £7 - only a lap quilt really or for a child but it is lovely.

  15. We are suffering the opposite problem down here,it's broad daylight at 5am and the wind blows the pulldown blinds open to let in more light! Pretty purses as usual, love the faded quilt,if only we could age that well.

I will do a re-run I think and perhaps add some Christmas things into the mix. The paisley one is loverly too - but is a lumpy and bumpy as anything. I suppose I could take it apart and re-do it but then would have to undo all the top stitching. It cost me the grand total of 30p from my local church fete a few years ago - so worth the lumps and bumps!
