"Oh, I could write a sonnet about your vintage Easter bonnet, And of the girl I'm taking to the Easter Parade....."

I trust that you have had a lovely Easter.
Sisters came to stay and goodness me they do not stop.  Laughed like a drain as, on departure, THEY COULD NOT CLOSE THE CAR DOORS AS THEY HAD BOUGHT TOO MUCH STUFF AT THE CAR BOOTS (we went to more than one).  Shameful.  To be fair some will be for the charity fund raising activity in the summer so I WILL FORGIVE SOME OF THE PURCHASES GAIL AND SUE....some but not all...As Manor Farm (where Wartime Farm was filmed  - for BBC watchers) is nearby we went there afterwards.....I will chat about that another time (we are fairly frequent visitors as it was ideal when the children were little). When I get round to it I will photograph some of my buys...but for now....here are...

...my Easter bonnet...s

I know that I have mentioned some of them before - four bought from local charity shops and one bought so many years ago I no longer remember where it came from (strongly suspect it was a jumble sale as it was bought pre-car boot era).

Sadly my big head will only accommodate one of them....

Back in the 80s this was my best hat for weddings

This is a child's hat

My English garden hat....not required at the moment!

I will add my no pinterest request here.....thank you...

"I'll be all in clover, and when they look us over
We'll be the proudest couple in the vintage  Easter parade...."

  2. My head is always too big for lovely hats - I can just about stretch on a beanie - but these are so sweet. I was once given a really lovely straw hat but it was too small - my friend told me to stretch it over the steam of a kettle - bad move. I then had a hat that was big enough but sadly deformed. 4. Yours is the most chic-est Easter bonnet I have ever seen. Plain Janes comment about steaming her hat has tickled me!

  5. I had a summer hat just the same as your natural straw child's hat - that brought back happy memories of summer holidays when the sun always seemed to shine. We certainly didn't need anything resembling a summer hat in rural Northants over Easter, the wind was straight from Siberia!

  6. Love hats so much..... Nobody seems to wear them any more... I often find I'm the only one at weddings and christenings and end of term celebrations in the abbey....... I always get compliments for being brave but I think they look so great.... Come on gals lets get the world wearing them again! These are just beautiful x

  8. Lovely, lovely hats Jennie. I have never seen such beauties. Glad you had a fun Easter with your sisters. I was so relieved Lent was over and I could eat chocolate again. Had thoughts of not going overboard with it but as always the eggs disappeared as fast as I could stuff them into my mouth along with the pious thoughts that flew out of the window. Philippa xx

  10. Your bonnets are beautiful! Magnifico!

Sadly, I hate wearing anything on my head. My mane is more than enough - it's like a fur coat. Hubby keeps going on and on about me wearing a woolly hat in winter but oh my it makes me so vile and crabby and hateful when there is something on my head and I have to tear it off before I tear someone elses head off. I know I know that makes me sound quite insane but there you go. My bonce is a hat-free zone. :)

  12. Beauteous, beauteous bonnets for blushing belles on the Bestest Sunday of the year.

It was snowing on Easter Sunday. I wore a grey felt tribly [with feather trim] for church.

    Easter Blessings xxx

  15. Such pretty hats. The last one is my favourite, anything floral usually is! I'm very disappointed that Easter Parade wasn't on this weekend or perhaps I missed it?

  17. I love your summer garden one too Jenny. I have a lovely straw hat that comes everywhere with me in summer. I bought it several years ago and it was quite expensive but it squashes into my case and I keep bringing it into use.(The hot sun on my head and face brings on a migraine so I have to keep covered). When its not in use it lives hung over my bedpost!

  18. I do like your 'best hat for weddings'. Your hat model looks to be struggling with the weight upon her delicate head though ... she's crossing her eyes!
