Old fabric and matching china....again...

Apologies for slight delay in announcing the giveaway winners - been very busy with work - about to start work again now (18.00 and on my knees to be honest) and not had time to hand scribe the entrants onto paper to draw from the very vintage hat!

I may have to delay draw until early next week when my loins are properly girded for the writing exercise (is there an easier way?)

To fill the gap I have hand selected a draft post to GO LIVE - I have over 50...oh dear...50...well 55... draft posts lined up ready to GO LIVE at a moments notice.  Some may never see the light of day but each one has either made me laugh writing it or I like the purdy pictures!  Some do not get posted because they are seasonal and they have missed their moment sadly...some because I go off the boil.  I could write a book and fill that book with those posts quite easily (thank you Eco Ethel). This is what I do when I cannot sleep....

Anyway this is today's choice!

This luvverly fabricos was in a local charity shop very recently (updated as originally said YESTERDAY) - part of the window display but they kindly put my name on it so I could buy it when they changed the display - £4.99 (they informed me that all lengths of fabric would always cost £4.99) bought me a long length of this beeeeaaaauuuuutiful linen  - lovely minty pastel  colours and a fantastic print too (I should have ironed it...).

Our table is 8 feet long and this piece covers it very nicely -  I used this as a Sunday tea tablecloth!

Each and every colour is perfect I think.

I hate to keep asking for ident help but have you ever since this fabric before?  I wish that printing on the selvedge was compulsory!

Once back home I rootled around to find the 'best' china to match the fabric...mmm...tricky job but someone has to do it!

Decided that this 50s/60s china was the 'best fit'

This china was from  a car boot a few years back - three cups, three saucers and three plates!

Adding in extra cups to make up the required numbers

Adding in glasses as extra children were coming round too

Oh and a cake stand - also bought from the same charity shop - very cheaply.  Did not have the stand bits so at the counter they tried to persuade me not to buy it.
'Oh dear, it does not have the stand...it is not much good without that'.
'Never fear' I replied....'I have one or two stand bits at home....'

I do not need another cake stand....but this one was...

....extra lovely....

All hand painted...let us just LOOK at it..

I did not wish to despoil it with CAKE!

Opening up a cake stand emporium this very afternoon

Had to do extra rootling for more plates

 Not quite right...

Ah - that's better

Tra la la
Fiddle de dee
Off I go...
Making the tea....
....for me.......
....and thee...

  2. Your posts always bring a smile to my face Jenny, even on this very grumpy day that I'm having! The combination of vintage fabric, matching china and a few tra-la-las and fiddle-de-dees is a joyous thing. And the thought of a charity shop in which ALL lengths of fabric will ALWAYS be £4.99 is just dreamy! Thank you for brightening my day lovely lady. Rachel xx

    1. Do call in for tea and cake next time you are in the area. I must admit when I saw it I thought that if they cannot 'put my name on it' I will have to stalk the place so that I don't miss it when they change the display!
