Christmas cards - option 3 and blog loss!!

Old Christmas cards - how lovely they are.  These two shown on top were sent to me by my mum many years ago (no I am not that old - they were old then - I have ALWAYS loved old things) - so my mum was ahead of her time.  My used vintage Christmas cards are displayed every year around our mirror in the dining room.

I also have this one which is extra special as it was sent by either  my great grandfather or grandfather in 1911

I am not sure which one it is because they were both called Clement, both at the same address and both of an age when they might be sending cards.  .

Three years later my grandfather would be fighting in the First World War.

It is has been a very sad few weeks for our family so apologies for lack of comment on other blogs...sunny days around the corner....

PS: I  have a Blogger problem where I get the message that I 'cannot upload any more photographs' even though I have about 80% of photo storage left - I deleted lots of old posts (sniff, sniff) but it has made no difference.  Being the poor sleeper that I am I had a few posts 'lined up' before this happened but not sure if I can continue in blog land without photos to accompany the words...oh dear.

  1. I have the same problem Jenny... I don't know what to do either, I've been deleting a image everytime I want to add one. Hope someone out there knows what to do. There are a lot of us that need your lovely images... not sure anyone would miss my blog but me! smiles Cass

  2. Jenny,
I am so sorry to hear about your family's recent sadness.

On a lighter note, if you go to blog help in your dashboard, there is a thingy there thats says, 'recent issues' anyway apparently lots of bloggers are reporting the same problem that you are having and blogger is investigating the problem!~ don't panic....sit tight and don't delete anymore of your lovely posts or I will have nothing to read when I can't sleep.....

  3. Hi Jenny, I'm sorry you are experiencing sad times, hope you are ok x x
Wonderful cards, I've just found lots of cards my parents sent to each other, mainly the 70s and 80s it was quite emotional looking through them all! Don't think there were any Christmas cards though! Take care :) x

  4. I too had that problem and had to buy more storage at about £3.50!! Love the old cards, how wonderful that you have a family one dated 1911. I've just won two cards from e bay, (at 99p) that included a letter in one of them from 1957. Lucey xx

    1. I know a few people with the most delicious handwriting and I am most envious of their script. I am left handed and of an age when writing with an ink pen was torment - I have a special left handed nib now!

  10. Sorry you are sad - hope things get better soon. Guess the Blogger problem is the last straw! Try publishing your pictures elsewhere (I use Flickr) and just putting the code for them in Blogger. This way the picture shows in your blog but is actually saved in Flickr, so no blogger space used!

  12. I also have some computer related issues. The computer has gone to be repaired as it had a serious malfunction. I'm writing this on our daughters laptop! Hope your Blogger issues are swiftly taken care of so that normal service can resume.

  13. The Christmas cards are beautiful :)

Re. the picture issues, a lot of folk are reporting the same problem, I wonder if their is a glitch at Blogger's end. A simple solution is to open a Photobucket account for your blog and upload your images to that instead, then just paste the appropriate code into your post. It's only a little more time consuming and should completely eradicate that annoting message. Perhaps not a long term solution, but certainly a quick fix until you have time to work out what is going on.

So sorry to hear that you are experiencing sad times x

  14. Just popping back to say I've checked the site that lists known issues on Blogger. This was posted yesterday: "Some users are reporting that they're hitting unexpected image quota limits when uploading an image from Blogger. We're investigating the issue and will report back when we have more information to share."

  15. What a lovely Christmas card and wonderful that it is still in the family. I'm sorry you have had some sad times.
I hope your problem with your photos is sorted out on Blogger, it seems strange if it is still showing you have the capacity.

  16. Fab cards - I love how they did things in the past - so blooming genteel - imagine sending a card with that sort of thing today? People would scratch their heads in bemusement. Your grandad had class.

And I am sorry you've had sad things going on. I hope the sadness passes soon.

A couple of months ago I had to purchase more space for my photos. I felt it was a small amount considering the great joy of sharing with my blogging friends.

I've been having the blogger problem too with photos and unfortunately have had to delete. I might have a go at shrinking them, even though I've know idea how to do that!
