Mary doesn't have a great deal to say today....
She got all dressed up for a sunny day
Reminded herself that she was in dire need of some 'neck work'.....!
Mary would very much like to meet the person who made this and congratulate them on such beautiful work - was originally sold in a department store and still has the original label (and price - 7/11) attached.
Mary has gone into hiding whilst this room is being 'refurbished' for the new saison....room should be 'done' by Christmas....vintage wallpaper (from 1956 to be precise) will be preserved - phew!
Fiddle de dee
Mary has gotten all dressed up
For tea......
and cake.........
PPS: Working tomorrow (Saturday) - just thought that I would let you know...
PPPS: Working on weekend bag tutorial (want to make it 'right')
PPPPS: Shoe situation now a little more needy because of the rain
PPPPPS: Well done to Sister Sue for raising THREE THOUSAND POUNDS for Cancer Research with her vintage tea party (some very nice cake, china and 'bits and bobs' can work wonders)
PPPPPPS: Thank you for encouragement as always
PPPPPPP: Just catching up watching an episode of Dragon's Den and CANNOT BELIEVE the people who run The Makery in Bristol were flogging kits to make purses for FIFETEEN POUNDS but then again that's business I reckon - perhaps the question is more WHO IS PAYING THAT- I will undercut that by half and make MILLIONS. UNBELIEVABLE.....
Finally PS of the day - I very much love modern illustrators such as the work of Claire Phillips seen here on Etsy - see I can do moderhn too you know!
Pleased to see that Mary is settling in well, so glad she found you, a match made in heaven! Is that mini Mary on your mantle a pin cushion? You have just given me a good idea. EE xx
ReplyDeleteThank you Ethel - it is indeed a mini Mary pincushion - I made her a while back from some old embroidery
DeleteThank you again for calling in

Goodness me Jenny... I think this post is probably my favourite ever!
ReplyDeleteFabulous Mary (I've two modernish mannequins but I dream of finding mary's twin one day) , a fabulous dress, that beautiful embroidered collar ( I'm not a fan of collars as a rule but I would love one like that) your sweet bag And then the stunning setting that is your home and your then your composition...
All just perfect my dear...
Now Shoes Jenny.. we can't have you wandering around in the wet with well what ever passes for your present pair... concentrate... shoes shoes shoes... those poor much used and under rewarded feet of yours want some lovely, new comfortable SHOES!! Hugs Cx
That is kind of you dear Cass - the collar is a work of art I think.
DeleteThank you so much for your shoes advice - I think that I am indeed reaching crunch point, melt down, the final days.....these ones are a little...how shall we put it...shaped....
I will set my mind to it

That embroidered collar is glorious, such beautiful colours. I can not imagine how much time and effort that took to make. Love the line up of objects on your mantelpiece.
ReplyDeleteDear Kate-Em - sorry that I have still found the follow button (is it me?) Thank you for calling in and your kind words

Mary's collar is stunning. I can quite understand her wanting to show it off. I found a pretty little peter pan collar at a fair on Saturday. Sadly it was too small for my less-than-Audrey Hepburn one. Detachable collars were obviously in vogue back then. I hope you find some shoes soon. I don't want to worry about you walking barefoot anywhere other than on a sunny beach. Philippa xx
ReplyDeleteIndeed Philippa - the collar looks lovely on Mary, perhaps less so on my good self.....
DeleteI am hot on the heels of the shoe issue....

Sigh!!!I do adore your posts dear Jenny, that collar is beyond words,Mary is sooo fortunate to live with you and be able to wear such creations!! I am coveting the bag she has too!!Many congratulations to your sister on raising such an amazing amount, did she have 3,0000 guests or a few VERY generous ones?TTFN Pam.
ReplyDeleteDear Pam - I have told Mary how lucky she is to be with me but she said absolutely nothing in return!!! Some people! this is the second year that sister Sue has raised money - she works very hard for several months to get it all together. She was the district nurse for the region so she is well known to the local and the wider community so people give generously

What size shoe do you wear, Jenny? Maybe I can find a pair for you in my ebay store. You don't want to catch pneumonia this winter!
ReplyDelete|Oh dear Linda - that is very kind indeed of you. Me and shoes go back a long way - surgery as a child has meant I have never found a pair of shoes that do not cause some sort of grief so when I find one pair that vaguely fit I WEAR THEM TO BITS! I will keep looking as it is getting close to the brink!
Deletethank you again
Kind regards
Jenny
Mary is such a delicious dish in that dress and collar -I wonder if a gentleman's manikin might see her photos and become interested? Hugs with aloha, Ann
