And the colour is........not quite ready

Thank you for entering the giveaway competition - I will keep it open for another week so there is still time to READ the post carefully and enter! Thank you also for kind comments and emails - I will blog visit this week - I promise.

Thought I would build up colour tension and reveal table colour next time around. In the interim these are the shelves all stocked with stock......stuff....

There is something very appealing about stacks of coloured fabric isn't there.  Why is that I wonder.

I am rather partial to colour and pattern....I think that I may have mentioned this previously...

Can you see that shelf bottom left I got a bit fed up with the folding and did more 'shoving' instead.

Good to have everything in one place.....well nearly.........there may be some more......

So my old tins are still here - now they are stacked in the vertical position

Let's face it that: pared back Scandi look is not going to happen any time soon....though I have plans for the kitchen!

A tin repeat - of course this arrangement has been changed umpteen times already as with each tin use it all gets shuffled around!

These photographs show the room in its early metamorphosis - before the table purchase and before some chucking out had taken place.

I fully appreciate that this looks like Steptoe's Yard....oh dear

In the photo below I seem to have got rid of some stuff only for more to appear via the back door!

At this point I was desperately moving stuff around in order to create a bit of table space.  I have not repainted the floor (which I last painted about 10 years ago and dried with a hairdryer in order to move all the bedroom furniture at that time back in....)

This was the table back in the summer - I managed to do a bit of light sanding - that was all that was needed before I painted it a particular colour........

What could that colour be I wonder......?

I think that some of you have spotted it......well done you sleuths!

Table in  all its glory will be posted next time with the winners too

Spare kind thoughts for people in the world and give generously if you can. I appreciate all that I have

    1. ~Thank you Lynne - fear not those piles will not be tidy for too long! Mary does tend to show off a bit with her outfits - I will have a stern word with her.
I will never complain about our weather again

  4. But how can you remember what's in each tin - I haven't got half that amount and by the time I get to the right tin I am usually a) rabid or b) have forgotten what I was looking for. Are you sure you haven't got a swish plastic storage box behind you with white envelope labels written on in felt tip pen? Hmmm .... Jane x (please excuse my sleuth like behaviour but I have been watching Poirot)

I get a little rabid from time to time.....I scare the children.....I also forget.....a lot...
What I haven't revealed is that the shelving is all on a hinge and it swings back to reveal a stash of plastic boxes...ha ha!

  7. Oh Jenny you put me to shame. Your room looks so inviting and tidy. Best not to say what mine looks like. Have you been watching the Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners? I definitely identified with the lady this week who seemed to have a 1001 WIPs. I think I should do a bit of tidying up before my husband gets the camera crews round for the next series. Philippa xx

    1. Dear Philippa - rest assured that it will not stay neat and tidy. It is a bloomin' mess right now! I have missed this current series of OCC but saw it last time around. I am rather keen on bleach - as my pock marked clothes can testify!

  8. I thought I'd died and gone to heaven .. fabric and retro heaven! What a pretty sight, all that wonderful colour. On cold, grey days I'd sit with my chair facing all that "candy" all day long.

    1. Dear Eco Ethel
When the day of la grande 'downsize' arrives I will be in bit of a tizz so not really sure that I am in a position of giving good advice. I think that you are right = the best option is to start bricking up NOW!

I think that being lucky in having spare rooms has also been my undoing - we used to live in a one bedroom flat for year.....it was rather packed.....

  12. Think you could probably sell tickets for a rummage in your room. Don't they become dusty though, or am I being a bit anal?

    1. Dear the woolly dog
I have got a roll of old bus tickets - would that do do you think?
Not anal in the slightest - it does get dusty with all the lint but it drops to the floor so I can swiff it up with my swiffer....

  19. Dear Jenny, I was so glad to see you pop up over on Oooh Betty that I thought I would bob over to you and say HI!
I myself have been thinking about a simple Scandi style but alas, as I try to part with stuff, more stuff seems to appear. It is a most tricky situation!
I think we may just have to accept that we are women of many loves (mostly of the tin variety) and just get on with it.
I love your shelves and all that sails on them xxx

We are doomed to failure Betty - we must accept that our shelves will be shoved full of stuff despite how much we get rid of....that is our lot in life! I have small areas of nothingness - but they are very small and keep asking me to fill them up in the way that space does....
      Thank you for calling in
