There are two sides to me...

Mmmmm - updating this post as I see there is a link on ghastly pinsect to this....I wonder if you read this blog?????? If you do then you will know my thoughts....

This has always been my trouble - I like too many things and too many different styles.  Hence my house ends up looking a hotch potch, rather than the unified, streamlined icon of design that I would wish for!!!  These two placemats sum up the 'problem' quite neatly. On the left we have a typical 1950's geometric design - I like this because it is bold, colourful and makes an impact.  On the right we have a typical 1960's flowery design - I like this because it is pretty, colourful and makes an impact. So everywhere in our house has a bit of both and everywhere there is a bit of clashing going on with the two very different tastes.  Which is your favourite?

  1. I'm just the same! I like both of these two...but...I *think* I lean slightly more to the flower. :)

    Cheers!

  2. I love both too! I don't think they clash, but I know what you mean about not achieving 'a look'. But then messy and eclectic is 'a look'...

  3. Hello Jenny, They are both nice but the one on the left is what I would choose. I too have an identity crisis and can't make up my mind which era I prefer, hence each room in my house has ended up with a different look!

  4. I really like the flowers. But a "one style" deco is always a little sad, isn't it? The most important is to mix colours and eras with harmony and taste... Bon gout as we say in French... With it, you can create any deco, even the most incredible and mad one, the result will always be nice!
    Joyeuse journée!

  5. I struggle with sticking to one design decade as well. I like many things and my friends tell me it works because it's all me. I think you have an amazing decorating style.
