Making things to cheer myself up

Made this this morning to cheer myself up - it is still a panel at the moment. Will add some nice vintage buttons to the intersections. Embroidery looks a bit washed out in the morning sun.

Would you make this into a bag, make it into a cushion, shove it in the "Drawer of Shame" (said in an echoey voice) or something different? I fear I know its destiny.....

  1. It's sweet! However, I used a piece which looks just like your base fabric on the back of a handbag, and it wore through very quickly indeed. So no, not the Drawer of Shame! (said in a scream, obviously) but perhaps somewhere where it won't wear out too fast?

I've only discovered you today (I can't imagine how I didn't find you sooner) - it's all thanks to H and A, of course. Lovely article, and you are now on my blogroll!

    1. Aww - lovely to hear from you Floss. Interesting about that fabric - I originally bought the design as a pair of used curtains so had been used a bit. My current batch was bought 'off the bolt' - 60 odd years old but never been used. Still has that particularly smell of new, freshly minted fabric so I think that this batch is more hard wearing (fingers crossed!). I bought lots and lots of it and it is one of my favourites..sad when I finally use it all up!

    1. Hello and thank you - I will try and add the buttons today and that might be the clincher (got to finish marking exam papers first....)

  4. Not that I'd need either but if it was me it would end up as a bag or cushion - possibly bag first and then upcycled further into a cushion!!

    1. Good idea - I have done that trick before when I have been indecisive (and then recycled it back again...)!

  5. I think it would be a lovely bag or cushion, but never the..."Drawer of Shame"!

Love all of your 'goodies' on the shelves!

    1. Many thanks - I think that since I took that photo of my shelves more bits have been added! It is in a constant state of flux and could warrant a webcam!!!!

    1. Thank you - was feeling miserable for a daft reason really. Time always makes things better I think. Have a lovely day in your garden (not raining I hope!)

    1. Many thanks - sometimes I dig things out of the Drawer of Shame (said in an echoey voice) but can seldom bring myself to revamp whatever it is...that is a shame in itself!! I am leaning towards cushion (literally!!!)
