Post is getting later and later.....

I had better start this posting by stating that it has not been posted by 'real' self but by my ethereal self! I am busy trying to get on with some work so I have left this to the work of the 'Blogger Scheduler'....we shall see if it works or not (mind you how will I know as I am in the Third Dimension (or is it the Fourth...I haven't watched Dr Who since Patrick Troughton left...what do you mean who is he!!!))! Sorry if this seems like an android but it appears to be quite a good way of blogging if you need to ask for leave of absence - I could stock pile a whole years worth of posts and then schedule them all at weekly intervals!

In my absence could I also please request that my photos are not used elsewhere...thank you for respecting that wish....by all means use ideas and then take own photographs and use merrily

Well it got here eventually - this letter was a little late but it is the thought that counts.  How marvellous that the address has not changed over the years and this could fight its way through all the other letters to find its way home...ho ho.

Just experimenting really and seeing what can be done...

Used some fabric leftover from primary school summer dresses for lining.

Roll out the barra....

"Cor blimey gov'ner" (said in a Dick Van Dyke/Bert sort of way...).

I printed this on double damask again but next time I would use something plain I think

Cakeshire is quite a nice county to live in....never ending supplies of cake.....

Toodle pip from a wet and windy Custard Towers....mind you by the time this is posted the sun might be shining!

PS: Many years ago when Dom and I were backpacking our way around the globe I would write letters home to friends - once I merrily addressed a letter to Blighty (I must have been particularly homesick after a year I think)  it trotted off around the world travelling to several countries with similar sounding names (Belize being one that I recall) but it finally made it home when someone had written 'Try the United Kingdom!' on it.

  1. What a lovely purse, love the damask! It' a good job I don't live in Cakeshire, I'd be the size of a house! Lovely weather today in the Frozen North, sun shining, birds singing, bliss! Enjoy your day ... Claire, xx

  2. Hi Jenny[I hope that you do not mind me addressing you thus as we have not met!] Love your purse so VERY clever, I was inspired to make a purse of my own, a very bockerty job but considering it was the VERY 1ST time I had EVER sewn a zip into something ,I was ever so pleased with myself!! Who would have thought that sooo much pleasure could be derived from such a simple thing!!I often visit cakeshire, I love the little shop of knitted cakes on Kipling Lane!!!p.s. have you tried the jubilee kiplings? It is my dubious proud boast that I can eat a box full at one sitting!!!Sorry to digress onto cake especially the non home baked variety, I do bake very nice cakes of my own.So glad to hear from you again.Kind Regards Pam.

    1. Dear Pam (I hope I may call you that!) - I love that you completed the purse and bockertyness does not matter a jot! I too only learnt the mysterious art of zip insertion a year or two ago (via a You Tube tutorial!). Let us meet up on Kipling Lane - I hear that they are selling two for the price of one this week! I cannot dally for fear of succumbing fully back to blogland but hope to drop in again shortly.

  3. Hello sweet Jenny! I am so happy to find this post, as it showed up in my reader during last week, but when I clicked it, only your previous post showed up, so I am happy to find it today! I suppose it must have been from the scheduled posting you are doing? That is neat! We are Doctor Who fans in our house. Was Patrick Troughton the first Doctor Who? My son had watched the first ones, but I have only seen the current ones. He favors David Tennant, but I like Matt Smith and look forward to his new companion. She looks like a sweetie! I think you would enjoy watching them! Thank you for visiting me and for your very sweet comments! Yes, we have the beautiful Ruby-throated hummingbird! They are amazing little creatures and such fun to watch! I so wish you had them in England! I can imagine all the red, white and blue for the Jubilee celebration! I wish I could be there as it all sounds so wonderful! Your purse is beautiful! You are so creative! I think the damask is lovely. I love the gingham lining and the Union Jack backing! Oh, the address is fabulous too and I loved reading about your letter going all over the world until someone wrote, "try the United Kingdom!" I hope you have a lovely weekend and that the sun will shine! I have the kettle on, so please come over when you can! The hummingbirds, sunshine and I will be waiting for you! Much love, Paula xo

    1. Hello Paula - I bow down to your Dr knowledge I lost track after Mr Troughton! I have had a search of your lovely hummingbirds - how deliciously wonderful to have those in your garden! Serious bird envy here! I am getting a few bits and bobs together for Jubilee festivities - I hope that the weather holds fair. Sun has indeed been shining today so you kind thoughts did the trick across the ocean. Keep the kettle ticking over as I am wending my way....

    2. Hello. Do you have a tutorial on how to put your pics to fabric as in this envelope? Your blog is great by the way.
