I do like to send off a nice parcel

I very much like making things look 'nice' (an underrated word I feel) and this also relates to parcels that I may send off hither and thither.  I am sure that others of you will understand the need to wrap 'nicely' (even if the contents are a let down!!!)

I always like to add in a nice extra bit of something...
I might spend a little tooooo long finding the right things to marry up....

I also like the extra bits to be suitable for the recipient and what  I think/hope they might like...

I know, I know - yet another bit of daftness that I spend too long on...

  1. I love to do this too! some of my favorite things to use are sewing pattern paper and string or ribbon threaded through a button or two on top. Most of my supplies come from the thrift store - and I probably don't need to buy any more gift wrappings but...

Once my husband tried to replicate (his interpretation of) my style on a gift to me - ahem - he crumpled up a lunch sack and inserted the gift and tied it off with a rubber band and dead but not quite dry roses. It really made me laugh when I thought about his perspective on what I was doing!

  2. Hi dear Jenny! I love your gorgeous packaging! I think it is so sweet to put extra effort into making the gift wrapping so special! You have inspired me very much, as you always do dear girl! This is not daft at all! It is SWEET! I love your gorgeous Crinoline lady bag. She is stunning and so is the fabric! Those old embroiders are just amazing! Love to you~ Paula xo

  3. My partner got a 'boy' parcel the other day - a new X-Box game (no, he's not a teenager, he just thinks he is!) and the sender had attempted to 'add a little extra something' by putting 1 chewy sweet in the jiffy bag - a nice thought but a bit lame, and Frank was completely nonplussed!

I always appreciate the extra effort when people wrap parcels nicely - in Japan they sell masses of little squares of fabric for wrapping gifts, some are beautiful enough to be gifts in themselves, but then what would you wrap them in?! I always think a bit of vintage ribbon or ric-rac is nice, particularly if the contents of the parcel is fabric in a co-ordinating (or nicely clashing!) colour. x
